Member Spotlight: Trade Winds Consignment Boutique

For the past 10 years, Trade Winds Consignment Boutique has been a steady presence in downtown Willow Creek — right in the heart of town and just steps from Pizza Factory. Owned by Rick Mock and operated by manager Kimberly Maxwell, the boutique is known for offering a broad selection of quality goods at great prices — from clothing and shoes to books, home goods, pet supplies, furniture, and more.

Kimberly, who commutes from Eureka five days a week, keeps things running smoothly and with intention. As she puts it:

“It’s always fun to see the variety of things that come in the store. I’ve met so many great people from areas like Orleans and Weitchpec. They’re so appreciative to have this variety nearby without having to make a trip to the coast. For many, we’re the Willow Creek mall — and that feels good.”

Trade Winds runs on a consignment model — locals bring in clean, gently-used items, and if they sell within a fixed timeframe, the consignor earns a portion of the sale. This system not only supports local upcycling but also puts money back in the hands of community members.

Visitors often note how organized, clean, and fresh the shop feels, and many are surprised by the name-brand quality they find in such a small town — at prices far lower than they’d find in bigger cities.
