We are excited to spotlight Emerald Queen Farms, proud Willow Creek Chamber members for the past 5 years. The farm is owned and operated by Hannah Whyte and Riley Morrison, the entrepreneurs and farmers behind the brand. Their off grid farm sits on the southeast end of Panther Ridge overlooking the South Fork Trinity River.
Mutant Munchies is owned and operated by Ben Overbeck, owner of Mutant Munchies, this locally run business is located in the heart of Willow Creek and is focused on crafting healthy, dehydrated snack goods for pets. Ben handles all aspects of the business, from kitchen manufacturing and packaging to bookkeeping, keeping the operation hands-on and community rooted.
Mutant Munchies has been in business for about 10 months. Their flagship product, Mobility Bites, is a dehydrated joint and hip support dog treat, handcrafted in small batches using wholesome locally sourced ingredients that are minimally processed to ensure quality in every bite.
The Mutant Munchies brand is inspired by an art project called the Mutant Ape Yacht Club, and that creative influence shows up across their packaging and website with a bold, playful visual style.
Ben shares that the most rewarding part of the business is knowing their treats help support pets’ daily joint and hip health. Hearing feedback like “Even my picky dog loves your treats” makes the work especially meaningful.
Community involvement is a core part of the Mutant Munchies mission. The business is committed to crafting healthy, dehydrated foods using thoughtful ingredients and responsible practices, while donating 1% of proceeds to local animal shelters and rescues in Humboldt County. One organization receives the full quarterly donation to maximize impact, with plans to expand their reach as the business grows.
After more than 20 years living in Humboldt County, Ben says that producing healthy, grab-and-go snacks with natural, wholesome ingredients aligns perfectly with the natural living values of the region, making Willow Creek a great fit for the business.
As Ben puts it, Mutant Munchies is all about one simple idea:
Eat good, feel good, be good!
