For more than 80 years, Sequoia Gas Company has kept homes and businesses across Humboldt and Trinity Counties warm, safe, and running smoothly with reliable propane service. Founded in 1941 as Youngreen Propane Gas Service, the company became Sequoia Gas Company in 1951 when Ben McWhorter purchased it. In 2022, they merged with Blue Star Gas—the only other family-owned propane provider in the region—bringing two long-standing local businesses together to better serve the community.
Under the leadership of Arcata Division Manager Britni Mitchell, the team provides seamless, safe, and customer-focused propane services. Their motto, “Mainly Beyond the Mains,”reflects their mission to deliver energy where natural gas lines don’t reach – serving rural homes, remote businesses, and off-grid properties.
