Letter from the President
Dear Community Member,
On behalf of the board, I’m writing to update you on the Willow Creek Chamber of Commerce and what we have been doing in 2018.
We would like to thank all business owners and community members who renewed their membership in 2018. The business owners who generously donated to Taste of Willow Creek and Bigfoot Days and all the volunteers who help make these events happen deserve a round of applause.
Taste of Willow Creek was held in July this year and while the event was well received by most attendees, some last minute cancellations and the heat detracted from people’s enjoyment. The chamber conducted a survey and got some great feedback. The 2019 date and format has yet to be announced. Email info@willowcreekchamber.com with your suggestions.
Bigfoot Days was a great success and thankfully there was no smoke and relatively low temperatures. The organizers worked really hard with few helpers to make this happen so we will be looking for more community members to step up next year.
The Information Booth was staffed by Rochele Braun and Rosella Kester who did an excellent job handing out accommodation, restaurant, recreation and travel tips to people from all over the world. They gave out many copies of our Willow Creek Visitor’s Map which has a beautiful map of the downtown area with businesses listed and phone numbers on the back. This was updated in 2018 by local artist Bill “Burro” Lewison. Email info@willowcreekchamber.com for a map.
We hired a new Executive Director this year, Ann Keaney and she has helped us to update our website and social media. She responds weekly to visitor inquiries sent from the Eureka Humboldt Visitors Bureau and keeps the community calendar updated. With her help, the Chamber is partnering with the North Coast Small Business Development Center and other agencies to bring business workshops and other professional development resources to Willow Creek.
As we head into the last quarter of 2018, we are looking for community members to join our Board and help support business growth in Willow Creek and the surrounding areas. Monthly meetings are the last Wed. of the month at 8.30 am at the Community Services District.
Come to our Business Mixer on Thurs. Oct 18th at 5.30 pm and meet local business owners and community members and share your concerns and suggestions with the Board. Bring your business card for entry into a drawing for a free 2019 chamber membership. Thanks to Coast Central Credit Union for hosting this event.
Thank you again for your support,
Tangie Markle,
President, Willow Creek Chamber of Commerce
